SSC is a part of Compass Group Support Services (SuS) which as a whole provides environmental services for K-12 schools, colleges, shopping centers, business & industries. As specialists, Compass Group SuS perform services including healthcare housekeeping, management in laundry processing, patient transportation, business facilities management, and clinical engineering. SSC provides customer focused support services to educational accounts in both K-12 schools and higher education institutions. JOB SUMMARY
The STAT Team Specialist is a project support manager who has the ultimate responsibility for the operation of the account they are based at. The STAT Team as a whole specializes in account start-ups, troubleshooting, and training, and each Specialist manages matters relating to the custodial, facilities maintenance, and grounds/landscaping departments. The Specialist will formulate policies and direct operations of the account; provide leadership and guidance for the overall strategic development of the department; coordinate and support all activities of the department; work with all levels of the facility staff in all matters relating to the cleanliness, sanitation, and proper maintenance of the facility and grounds. The Specialist fosters and maintains an environment where SAFETY is first and always. The chosen candidate must be a proven leader, and travel will be required throughout the U.S. to assist with start-ups, troubled accounts, and manager vacancies throughout the schools and higher education divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Train incoming managers including Facilities Directors, Project Managers, Grounds Managers, Custodial Managers, A/P and A/R Managers, and HR Managers on company policies and procedures.
- Recruit and hire or transition associates. Train, motivate, and supervise staff.
- Assist with developing RFPs for projects and SOPs for contractors.
- Attend and schedule regular meeting with clients, department heads, vendors, and contractors to discuss progress and address concerns.
- Create weekly/monthly progress reports.
- Plan, organize, and control functions and activities of space planning, renovations, projects, building of new facilities, and grounds.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend space utilization programs.
- Communicate with clients and staff, community groups, agencies, contractors, architects, and engineers to plan, organize, and coordinate programs and services.
- Monitor flow and quality of work.
- Prepare bid documents, specifications, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules. Assist with contract negotiations.
- Assist with pricing for additional services that may be needed outside of our standard agreement.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of departmental records and reports.
- Oversee day to day construction activities and maintain all appropriate logs.
- Ensure compliance with State Health Department, NFPA, EPA, DEP, ADA and local building codes and all other authorities having jurisdiction.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor construction and development of facilities.
- Prepare, review, evaluate, and recommend approval of plans for construction.
- Advise on structural changes and additions and/or modifications to buildings and space utilization.
- Interview independent contractors to receive and analyze bids, including blueprint analysis of proposed changes.
- Submit bids, cost estimates, schedules, phasing plans, budgets, reports, and recommendations.
- Liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, regulatory agencies, facilities staff, material and equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate and actively communicate with administrators and other departments.
Qualifications:
- Four year degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Mgmt. or equivalent work or military experience in a related field preferred.
- Two to four years of experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, engineering, and/or construction; experience in an educational institution preferred.
- Three to five years management experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of facilities maintenance, landscaping, engineering, and/or construction principles, practices and procedures, applicable laws and government regulations, principles of management.
- Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
- Must be flexible and willing to travel 90-100% of the time.
- Must be able to stay organized while on the road.
