POSITION SUMMARY: Apply analytical skills, product and supply chain knowledge to carry out a wide range of duties related to responsible sourcing/procurement in a fast-paced, industry-leading environment.






This is an opportunity for a strong candidate to work with one of the fastest-paced and most intentional responsible sourcing (procurement) groups in food service. We oversee procurement for food, beverage, and ancillary food service products at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, serving 150,000+ meals/week. The manager, vendor relations will be an integral part of the Vendor Relations and Category Management department as we perform an essential support function for Bon Appétit @Google in Mountain View.




The Vendor Relations and Category Management department ensures that food, beverage, and service products meet our high standards, are routinely in stock with preferred vendors, that service and quality conflicts are resolved on a timely basis, overall program integrity is maintained, new products are considered and smoothly introduced when needed, chef or manager inquiries are handled expeditiously, and progress on meeting goals is routinely analyzed and reported to onsite BA leadership. Our work is guided by the policy goals outlined in the Google culinary, nutritional, and responsible sourcing philosophies, as well as Google food safety requirements.




Ensure excellent relations and service with distributors and suppliers. Meet with key vendors quarterly or more frequently as needed to assess their commitment to our program, including supply chain integrity, innovation potential, food safety, capacity to serve our changing needs and pricing optimization opportunities. Perform key analytical analyses and basic product research related to procurement. Integrate the Responsible Business Framework into your activities.















POSITION OBJECTIVES:

MAJOR DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:









  • Meet with key vendors quarterly to assess their commitment to our program, including supply chain integrity, innovation potential, food safety, capacity to serve our changing needs and pricing optimization opportunities.




  • Conduct and review analyses to support our vendor relations program and special initiatives.







  • Work closely with Foodbuy, the group purchasing organization that supports all of Bon Appetit Management Company and Compass Group.







  • Thoroughly understand the food and other products purchasing model to be able to communicate it succinctly and effectively, and evaluate new opportunities efficiently.







  • Engage with our culinary leadership and clients to understand and respond to their changing needs. be a member of a team that makes quarterly presentations.




  • Be an engaged member of the Risk Management Committee for product recalls and withdrawal and designate functions as appropriate.















MINOR DUTIES:









  • Liaise with other BA accounts in the Bay Area to learn from and share information to everyone’s advantage.




  • Handle new vendor inquiries expeditiously.




  • Keep abreast of inflation news.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to be able to gain the confidence of distributors, suppliers, Bon Appétit leadership and Google Food team members chefs, managers, colleagues, and Foodbuy representatives.




  • Excellent analytical ability




  • Excellent English skills in written, oral and graphical/visual presentations.




  • Basic knowledge of food system issues including social and environmental impacts.




  • Culinary background desirable but not required.




  • Knowledge of food safety standards a plus.




  • Willingness to speak publicly and host a large group of chefs and talk about a product, supplier, or other issues.
